What’s that?
If you haven't heard of Joomla before I'll try to explain what it is and why I choose to use it.
Joomla is a CMS (Content Management System) which means it designed to allow you easily present your content on the web without having to know any programming. The website is www.joomla.org
To me a website is all about its content, but its adds extra panache if it looks good as well. Joomla uses templates which can be installed and change the whole look of a website in a few seconds. There are hundreds of templates on the web for Joomla and most are free. If you do a quick search on the web for Joomla templates you'll be amazed how many there are.
Joomla is very flexible and can be extended by the use of extensions. I've used some on this website. The photo's are using a gallery extension that gives your them a very professional look. I've also added Google adsense to try and earn a bit of money, may buy me a new RC plane!
I choose Joomla because I wanted to present the content and not be bogged down by programming. I have developed websites the traditional ways but you seem to spend more time on the presentation than the actual content. I liked Joomla easy interface and I can still add my own programming should I need to.The only downside to Joomla is that you do need to spend a little time to get to known how it works, but you only get out what you put in as they say. I bought a book and used my other favorite training resource YouTube.
